Summer
Walking is a year round activity. Bushwalkers of Western Australia Inc (BOWA) based in Perth has a complete annual programme. In Winter (May to October) longer walks of up to 20km in length are undertaken. These require a full day and most of the information about walking presented here applies to these walks. From time to time the Winter programme will include, for variety, a shorter half day walk. In Summer members maintain fitness by shorter walks around the Perth environs which are completed before midday. On almost every Sunday of the year it is possible to sample the experience of walking with our club. How do I get started?

Description
For participants in the BOWA Spring camp at Dwellingup.
This 18 km Medium/Hard walk was named after WA’s oldest and biggest Jarrah Tree which is located within Lane Poole Reserve. The trail starts out along a single track with a fairly steep incline followed by smaller dips and climbs surrounded by the beauty of the jarrah forest. We then follow a series of vehicle tracks (also used by cyclists) down to the bottom of the valley beside the Murray River and loop back to the start point.
Meet at 8.45 am for carpooling and 9 am departure. The trail starts near the Treetops Adventure Park, a 15-minute drive south of Dwellingup. We will park at the Nanga Townsite Campground on Nanga Road and walk a short distance to the trailhead. Bring supplies for morning tea, lunch, and an afternoon break if requested.
A shorter walk option of approximately 6km will also be available if requested. After the initial uphill section of the King Jarrah trail, there is an alternative loop track that will return walkers to the trailhead.
