Walking is a year round activity. Bushwalkers of Western Australia Inc (BOWA) based in Perth has a complete annual programme. In Winter (May to October) longer walks of up to 20km in length are undertaken. These require a full day and most of the information about walking presented here applies to these walks. From time to time the Winter programme will include, for variety, a shorter half day walk.  In Summer members maintain fitness by shorter walks around the Perth environs which are completed before midday. On almost every Sunday of the year it is possible to sample the experience of walking with our club. How do I get started?

Description

A medium walk of approximately 11.5 km. Goes up and down the dunes and is quite sandy in places. There is not a lot of shade around midday, so we'll stop for brunch at the lake, and If it's a hot day we could wait for the sea breeze to arrive before walking back. Meet at Whitfords Train Station at 8.30am or alternatively at Lacey Rd, Carabooda at 9am. There is parking for 8-10 cars at Lacey Rd.

Description

In the northern part of Whitfords station car park but south of Whitfords Avenue. The station is at the junction of Mitchell Freeway and Whitfords Avenue.

Sections of the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail are used and good lookouts provide many pleasant stopping places.
